Fifteen-year-old students from Slovakia ranked above the OECD average in the PISA 2018 tests, which for the first time focused on global competences, the Education Ministry's press department told TASR on Thursday. Slovak students scored 486 points, compared to the average of 474. Their peers from Greece, Lithuania and Russia had comparable results, while the results for students from Chile and Columbia were significantly worse. "Fifteen-year-old students from 66 countries took part in the PISA 2018 testing on global competences," Romana Kanovska, the director of the National Institute for Certified Measurements in Education (NUCEM), said. Grammar schools in particular did well, achieving the best results among secondary schools, while the results of secondary vocational schools were less satisfactory.
