Slovak police detained 27 illegal migrants from Asia and Africa last week

July 8th, 2019

Police have had to take action against illegal migrants three times on Slovakia's Schengen border with Ukraine in the past few days, Police Corps spokesperson Denisa Baloghova stated on Monday. The first incident took place on Wednesday (July 3) in Zboj municipality (Presov region), when officers of the border and foreign police detained 11 illegal migrants from Afghanistan and Vietnam. A 23-year-old Ukrainian has been charged with people smuggling, said Baloghova. Another 14 illegal migrants and a people smuggler were spotted and detained on the next day in dense forest in Vysna Rybnica municipality (Kosice region), approximately 12 kilometres from the Slovak-Ukrainian border.
