Slovak health ministry wants to amend price-setting mechanism for medicine

Slovakia's health ministry wants to change price-setting for medicine, presenting an amendment whose aim is to enhance compliance with the rules on pricing procedures. "If our patients consume such packages of medicine [that can be found only in Slovakia], then the prices of these packages will be recalculated proportionately from various packages of the same medicine," ministry spokesperson Zuzana Eliasova clarified. Drug prices in Slovakia have been determined for a long time according to the average of the three cheapest versions of the given drug in European countries.
