More than 1,300 counterfeit euro banknotes were intercepted in Slovakia in the second half of 2019, which is double the amount recorded in the first six months of the year, Slovak central bank (NBS) spokesman Peter Majer told TASR on Friday. Approximately 73 percent of the fake banknotes were detected while in circulation. The most common counterfeits were 50 euro banknotes, which made up 42 percent (551 notes) of all counterfeits. These were followed by 500 euro banknotes (243) and 20 euro banknotes (161).
