The Czech Senate rejected Ales Gerloch, proposed by President Milos Zeman, as a judge of the Constitutional Court (US) in a secret vote on Wednesday. Gerloch only received 19 out of the 64 votes, the chairman of the Senate election commission, Jaroslav Vetrovsky (ANO), said. The rejection is likely to have arisen from senators' questioning Gerloch's moral integrity, primarily expressed by the senators for the Christian Democrats (KDU-CSL), Mayors and Independents (STAN), TOP 09 and the grouping Senator 21.
