Sejm passes bill on promoting electricity from cogeneration

Poland's Sejm (lower house) approved a draft law on Friday on the promotion of electricity from high-efficiency cogeneration, i.e. through the simultaneous generation of electricity and useful heat in combined heat and power plants. According to the Energy Ministry, which prepared the bill, cogeneration is the optimal way to use fuels, because the efficiency of this process can be up to 50 percent higher than when heat and electricity are produced separately.
