The Polish Sejm with the support of the Law and Justice ruling party has elected three new judges to the Constitutional Tribunal. Krystyna Pawlowicz, Stanislaw Piotrowicz and Jakub Stelina were elected during a vote on Thursday night. Pawlowicz was a judge of the State Tribunal in 2007-2011 and an MP during the two previous terms of the Sejm. She was a member of the Sejm Justice Committee and sat on the National Council of the Judiciary. Piotrowicz, a communist-era prosecutor and a two-time senator, was also an MP during the Sejm's two previous terms. He was the head of the Sejm Justice Committee during the Sejm's eighth term. Professor Jakub Stelina is a labour law expert and was the dean of the Gdansk University Law and Administration Faculty in 2012-2018.
