Russian Patriarch Kirill may visit Czech Republic

Kirill, the Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia, may come to the Czech Republic in mid-2019 at the invitation of the Czech Orthodox church, daily Lidove noviny (LN) writes today. Kirill is close to Russian President Vladimir Putin. He has not yet publicly responded to the invitation. "This was spoken about when our bishop was on a visit to Russia recently," Stefan Lohojda, the director of the council of the Prague Orthodox Eparchy, is quoted as saying. "It is not yet official as the other side must confirm it," Lohojda said. June is the likeliest date of Kirill's visit, but the exact time and programme are not yet known.
