The Supreme Court has turned down an appellate review filed by far-right extra-parliamentary National Democracy (ND) party chairman Adam B. Bartos against his suspended sentence for publishing anti-Semitic texts, the public broadcaster Czech Television (CT) said on Wednesday. As a result, the verdict is binding. Last January, the Prague 1 district court convicted Bartos of approving of genocide, incitement to hatred and defamation of a nation. The decision was upheld by the Municipal Court in Prague in November. The Prague judges ruled that Bartos had published anti-Semitic writings and in his speeches, articles and online comments only adjudged negative qualities to Jews. Bartos has denied the allegations, arguing that he has the right to "freedom of speech."
