Referring to the recent internet hate campaign against judges, Supreme Court spokesman Judge Michal Laskowski called on President Andrzej Duda to speak out, telling private radio station RMF that Duda should take a position on the matter. "Of course, the president speaks out on many issues and that's the way it should be ... We know what his duties are and how they should be fulfilled, and often we have the feeling that they are not being fulfilled," Laskowski said. News portal Onet.pl reported last week that Deputy Justice Minister Lukasz Piebiak had maintained social media contact with a woman known only as Emilia, who was responsible for anonymously disseminating defamatory materials against selected judges, allegedly with Piebiak's support. Piebiak resigned over the reports.
