Politicians' pay may be newly derived from national average wage

November 12th, 2020

The wages of Czech politicians and elected officials might be newly derived from the national average wage as of 2022, rather than the average wage in the public sector which is the case now, based on a proposal submitted by the deputies for ANO, Social Democrats and Pirates. The two government parties and the opposition Pirates have submitted the proposal as an addition to the draft amendment that freezes the wages of elected officials, including judges, in 2021 and was recently submitted by the Pirates together with fellow opposition Christian Democrats (KDU-CSL) and Mayors and Independents (STAN).
