MPs of the Civic Platform - Civic Coalition (PO-KO) have called on Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki to dismiss Education Minister Anna Zalewska and for the PM to sit down for talks with teachers demanding higher wages. The opposition argues that Minister Zalewska is responsible for the present crisis in the Polish education system and teachers' protests. Poland's teachers may launch a national strike on April 8 over a wage hike dispute with the government which has been continuing since January. Teachers are demanding a PLN 1,000 (EUR 232) monthly wage hike, more career openings and changes in performance assessment criteria.
