Polish Energy Minister Krzysztof Tchorzewski has asked EU commissioners in a written request to scrutinise the recent surges in the prices of CO2 emission allowances, according to Tchorzewski's deputy. "Yesterday Minister Tchorzewski met with Commissioners Canete and Vestager and pointed to this development and he also asked them in writing to have a closer look at it," Tomasz Dabrowski said. EU Commissioner Miguel Arias Canete is responsible for climate action and energy, while Margrethe Vestager is the European commissioner for competition. Tchorzewski asked the commissioners to check whether there could have been collusion on the emission allowances (EU ETS) market. The strong growth in EU ETS has been a cause for concern not only for the Polish government. Romania, Greece and Spain are also likely to share Poland's stance.
