Deputy PM Beata Szydlo has appealed to teachers' unions to mitigate the planned strike during the forthcoming school exams. She made the appeal during Friday's negotiations with teachers' union representatives. The head of the Polish Teachers' Union Slawomir Broniarz announced that "today's proposal presented by the government only aggravated the conflict instead of mitigating it." Earlier Szydlo declared that the government "proposes a new social contract aimed at modernising the system, which would ensure pay rises in education."
