The Polish military would provide more than 1,000 beds for patients suffering from the coronavirus, Defence Minister Mariusz Blaszczak said on Twitter on Thursday after receiving reports from commanders in charge of military hospitals. "The entire military health service is committed to fighting the coronavirus," Blaszczak tweeted. On Wednesday, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, while presenting the government's actions in the fight against the pandemic to the Sejm (lower house of parliament), said that additional hospital beds for the needs of COVID-19 patients were to come from, among other resources, the Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of Health and district hospitals. "This will lead to around 30,000 beds intended only for COVID-19 patients. Today approx. 10,000 are being used," said Morawiecki.
