A Polish project, 'Good support,' offering neighbourly help through an application, has won the prestigious European Commission RegioStars Award 2019 in the Inclusive Growth category for solutions combatting inequalities and poverty. The winners were announced in Brussels on Wednesday. The application, developed by experts from the Science for Environment Foundation from Koszalin, northwestern Poland, works like a one-stop shop for people with special needs. It has been dubbed the "Uber providing neighborhood care services." The app offers access via internet and mobile devices to an autonomous system of social services which connects local users such as municipalities, help centres, carers, counseling centres, and families. The idea is to support people who are not capable of independent living and often live in very remote places, said Olgierd Geblewicz, assembly speaker of the West Pomeranian province, a partner of the project.
