Poland will work together with the new president of the European Commission (EC), Ursula von der Leyen, to strengthen the European Union, develop and implement a good programme for the whole of Europe, Foreign Minister Jacek Czaputowicz has told PAP. Von der Leyen is in Warsaw on Thursday to meet with Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki. The EC president-elect is currently carrying out negotiations with the leaders of EU member states on the composition of the European Commission's staff under her leadership. Warsaw is the second destination of her foreign visit, as part of consultations on the filling of EC positions. On Tuesday, in Paris, she met with French President Emmanuel Macron. Czaputowicz told PAP that Poland supported von der Leyen's candidacy both in the European Council and in the European Parliament. "We have a positive view of Ursula von der Leyen. I had the opportunity to take part in various debates together with her, she is a well-received person looking for compromises."
