Polish gas monopoly PGNiG on Monday signed an agreement with Energy Resources of Ukraine (ERU) to cooperate in gas exploration and production in Ukraine. Addressing a press conference, PGNiG CEO Piotr Wozniak said that the deal with ERU "concerns operations in the area on the border with Poland" where gas deposits are similar to the ones in Poland near Przemysl, south-eastern Poland. Wozniak added that the extracted gas would improve Ukraine's balance of payments, and he said it was possible the gas could be exported to Poland via the existing pipeline. He underlined that the company was continuing its strategy aimed at increasing foreign operations.
