Prime Minister Beata Szydlo will take part in the European Union's Social Summit of heads of state and government in Gothenburg on Friday. Among the main topics to be discussed are social policy issues, employment and labour market access. "Responsibility for implementing policies in these areas is borne by the member states, but it is worthwhile working out more effective instruments to fight unemployment or poverty," government spokesman Rafal Bochenek told PAP. Thanks to the well-thought-out policy of Szydlo's government, Poland's achievements and concrete results in this area are an example to other countries, he said. "Very low unemployment, constantly rising employment, significant decline in family poverty as well as systematic wage and GDP growth constitute a breakthrough in terms of the current approach to socio-economic policy in Poland", he added.
