Pellegrini: Former prosecutor-general's detention proves no one is above law

The detention of Slovakia's former prosecutor-general Dobroslav Trnka by the National Crime Agency (NAKA) shows that there are no protected people against whom the law enforcement authorities are unable to take action if they suspect them of having committed a crime, Prime Minister Peter Pellegerini said on Thursday. "Untying the police's hands and giving the Police Corps president a new legal status were key moves towards achieving this state of affairs," Pellegrini said. "Given this, I'm all the more concerned when I hear that the opposition would like to politicise the election of the Police Corps president once again."
