Prime Minister and governing Smer-SD party vice-chairman Peter Pellegrini thinks that his party won't continue with the issue of an amendment to the law regulating abortions and won't try to push through changes in this regard. "The law has been amended a couple of times, and I think that the current legislation is sufficient. I don't think that abortions are an issue that should be raised as an initiative at the moment." He argued that the number of abortions has been declining in Slovakia every year and that the situation in this regard isn't urgent enough for any political party to deal with the issue.
