A draft law seeking stricter rules on the purchase and lease of Hungarian farm land won unanimous support for a general debate by parliament's agriculture committee on Tuesday. Istvan Nagy, a lawmaker of ruling Fidesz who submitted the motion, said it aimed at exposing deals made by circumventing current laws and preventing such deals from happening in the future. He told the committee that deals to evade farmland regulations have been "more diversified" than assumed before and this had prompted the bill.
