The strategic alliance between Hungary and the US has been successfully strengthened in every respect, Prime Minister Viktor Orban said on Tuesday after returning from Washington, DC. Commenting after his meeting with President Donald Trump, Orban said the world faced great changes and "we'll soon feel the headwinds of that". Speaking at a press conference held on a different subject he added: "We made a good assessment of the situation sometime in the early 2010s." Commenting on the upcoming European Parliament elections, he said the preservation of Hungarians' culture was at stake. Currently Europe is run by people who are "dedicated to giving up their culture" and "they do not mind if our continent gives up its culture", he said. Yet, for Hungarians nothing is more important than to "remain what we have always been", Orban said.
