Grzegorz Schetyna, the head of Polish opposition party Civic Platform (PO), held talks on Monday with German Chancellor Angela Merkel. The subjects discussed included the EU budget, the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline and a common EU policy after EP elections. "A very good meeting in Berlin with Chancellor Angela Merkel. We talked about the EU budget, including about European funds for Polish local governments, about Nord Stream 2 and about a common EU policy after elections to the European Parliament," Schetyna wrote on Twitter after the talks. On Sunday, announcing the planned talks with Chancellor Merkel, Schetyna Tweeted: "A stronger EU demands frankness, including talking about differences. In Berlin e.g. I will talk about our expectations for the new draft EU budget and the need for energy solidarity, broken by the Nord Stream 2 project."
