One third of Czechs on social websites fear AI - analysis

April 11th, 2019

One third of people on Czech social websites are afraid of artificial intelligence (AI), consider AI a potential threat and fear abuse of technologies, according to an analysis of more than 100,000 contributions posted on social websites that the Newton Media carried out. Only 18 percent of comments on AI posted on social websites were positive. The analysis, which also focused on news released in Czech media from March 2018 to February 2019, concluded that in traditional media only 1 percent of the news on AI were negative. "Pop culture undoubtedly has an influence - people fear that machines will turn humans into slaves, some even speak of a possible conspiracy of AI and extraterrestrials and the subsequent destruction of our civilisation," said Tomas Kust, one of the authors of the analysis.
