Number of foreigners studying at Czech universities on the rise

August 28th, 2019

The number of foreigners at Czech universities has been on the rise, their share increasing from 8 to 16 percent over the past ten years, according to data released by the Czech Statistical Office (CSU) on Wednesday. A total of 44,800 foreigners studied at Czech universities last year, compared with 30,100 in 2008. The total number of university students has declined as a result of the demographic development. "Although the number of university students has been falling every year, the number of foreigners [among them] has been rising," CSU expert Adriana Ondrusova said.
