Novotny: Broad-gauge railway will strip Eastern Slovakia of 1,500 jobs

The project for a broad-gauge railway running from the east of Slovakia to Vienna makes no sense, said SDKU-DS MP Viliam Novotny on Monday. "Instead of this project, which is taking jobs away from people in eastern Slovakia, the planned investment of 4 billion euros should be used instead on the construction of the Milhost-Kosice-Presov-Vysny Komarnik R4 express road, which would connect Slovakia to the European motorway system," he said, adding that the R4 would bring more jobs to the East.
