A group of Slovak journalists from various media outlets has set up the Jan Kuciak Investigative Centre (ICJK) aimed at creating a platform for cooperation between Slovak investigative journalists and their colleagues from abroad, while respecting the competitive nature of the journalistic profession. The civil association, which was set up at the end of 2018, will be funded by donations and grants via a transparent bank account. The first stages of the ICJK centre, which was named after murdered investigative journalist Jan Kuciak, who was shot dead along with his fiancee last February, will be supervised by journalist Pavla Holcova from the Czech Centre for Investigative Journalism, who cooperated with Kuciak on various topics. ICJK in November signed a contract with the Organized Crime And Corruption Reporting Project, which unites journalistic projects focusing on detecting corruption and international organised crime in more than 30 countries on four continents.
