Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, who arrived in Brussels on Tuesday afternoon to take part in an EU summit, said that appointments to top-level EU posts should serve to build a strong European Union "free of protectionism, supporting a single market, and securing a good EU budget for the next cycle." Morawiecki said his government would "do everything" to achieve these goals. Energy, climate and broad-based economy are still Poland's priorities, he said. "This is of key importance for us." Geographical and regional factors regarding a candidate should be taken into account, he said, adding that their concrete opinions regarding these areas "are even more significant." Morawiecki also emphasised that appointments to key EU posts should be made on the basis of a consensus among particular member states.
