Minister: 'I'm glad EC President is optimistic about talks with Poland'

Polish Foreign Minister Jacek Czaputowicz, referring to a recent statement by the EC head about the rule of law in Poland, said: "I am glad that EC President Jean-Claude Juncker is optimistic about talks with Poland." The EC President and Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki met on the sidelines of the EU-Western Balkans summit in Sofia after Juncker told a press conference in Brussels earlier that Poland had made progress on the rule-of-law issue but that it was still insufficient. He said the two parties were continuing discussions, which had to end by the end of June or early July. "I am an optimist," he stated. Czaputowicz said: "I think that his optimism is based on his knowledge and feelings. I am very happy about this optimistic declaration."
