Slovak Interior Minister Roman Mikulec on Monday called on people to reconsider taking part in planned protests and mass gatherings scheduled for November 17, adding that if opposition lawmakers called on people to take to the streets, they would be trampling the message of the anniversary of the Velvet Revolution. "Neither the ban on mass gatherings nor the state of emergency have been implemented in order to prevent anyone from expressing their opinions," the minister said, arguing that the restrictions were in place to slow down the spread of coronavirus. "Coronavirus doesn't choose whom to infect, and it isn't interested in anyone's political opinions, either," said Mikulec.
