Merkel, Macron to back EC's decision on Polish rule of law

French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Angela Merkel declared on Friday they would support the European Commission's decisions regarding the rule of law in Poland and a potential Article 7 sanction procedure. "If the European Commission decides it is necessary to move forward, we will support it," Merkel said at a joint press conference with the French President, when asked about EC's potential launch of Article 7 against Poland.
