Agriculture and Rural Development Minister Gabriela Matecna has ordered the chief veterinarian to carry out an emergency measure regarding the import of beef from Poland, the Agriculture Ministry said. As of Friday every consignment of beef from Poland has to pass laboratory tests in order to get to the Slovak market. "I won't allow failures of the Polish authorities to repeatedly jeopardise Slovak consumers," Matecna said. "The State Food and Veterinary Administration will therefore check all consignments of Polish meat ... This measure will remain in force until further notice."
