President Andrzej Duda appointed Mariusz Kaminski on Wednesday as Poland's new minister of internal affairs and administration. Kaminski, 54, replaces Elzbieta Witek who last week was elected speaker of the Sejm after the resignation from the post by Marek Kuchcinski. Kaminski will also continue to be the government's coordinator of special services. In March 2015, Kaminski was sentenced to three years in jail and a 10-year ban on holding public posts for overstepping his powers while being the head of the Central Anti-Corruption Bureau. In November 2015, after being pardoned by President Duda, he was named the coordinator of special services.
