Polish Foreign Minister Jacek Czaputowicz said in Vilnius on Thursday that Lithuania is an important ally for Poland and that mutual relations are maintained at the highest level. He also referred to their joint stance regarding the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline. "Lithuania is an important ally; we underscore our common neighbourhood and common history," Czaputowicz said after meeting Lithuanian Foreign Minister Linas Linkevicius. In his opinion, good relations between the two countries are maintained at "the highest level" during the meetings of presidents, prime ministers and parliamentary heads. The Polish FM said Poland wanted Lithuania to become independent of Russian energy supplies. He noted both countries oppose the construction of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline and stand for strengthening the presence of the American army in Eastern Europe.
