According to President Andrej Kiska, the results of the first round of Slovakia's presidential election have shown that Slovaks want a "decent and fair" country. "The public wants us to keep steering Slovakia away from a moral crisis," Kiska said on Monday. Kiska also addressed the results presidential candidates Marian Kotleba and Stefan Harabin reached. "I must say that the 25 percent of the votes these candidates obtained [together] is quite a lot. We must ask ourselves why it happened. On one hand it's a failure of politics and politicians, on the other hand we can't provide clear and tangible results to the public; a true social Slovakia still does not exist. That's the reason why extremists are gaining votes," said Kiska.
