President Andrej Kiska appeared for questioning by the National Crime Agency (NAKA) in Bratislava on Wednesday regarding the case of an alleged attempt to blackmail him by head of the Smer-SD party Robert Fico. The police launched an investigation into this matter in late February. On February 22, Kiska said Fico had attempted to blackmail him regarding the vote on candidates for the Constitutional Court and Fico's ambition to become chairman of the Constitutional Court. Kiska is also of the opinion that the ongoing prosecution of an executive manager of a company called KTAG, co-owned by Kiska, is Fico's revenge for Kiska's refusal to appoint him as chairman of the Constitutional Court. Fico denies the allegations.
