President Andrej Kiska on Thursday met with authors of the 'Atlas of Roma Communities 2013' which was carried out in cooperation with the University of Presov, and said that "the most important thing is to convince the majority of people that Slovakia won't be successful unless the Roma are successful". Discussing the most urgent Roma issues, the authors of Atlas 2013 and the president concurred that the solution doesn't lie in "giving somebody something for free", but in creating programmes that can help the Roma communities. These concern mainly pre-school education programmes and programmes addressing the housing issue. Kiska also added that these programmes shouldn't concern only the Roma, but all socially disadvantaged groups.
