The migrant relocation mechanism proposed by the European Commission (EC) is malfunctioning, and any efforts to introduce a permanent mechanism for migrant redistribution can only deepen the migrant crisis, concurred V4 (Visegrad Group - Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Poland and Hungary) interior ministers at a conference on migration and border protection held in Budapest on Thursday. The V4 ministers signed a joint declaration rejecting pressure from the EC against countries that failed to meet mandatory migrant redistribution quotas, Slovak Interior Ministry spokesperson Peter Lazarov has told TASR.
