Justice ministry drafting amendment to state attorneys law

June 20th, 2019

The Czech justice ministry submitted its draft amendment to the state attorney's office law and the draft amendment to the judges, state attorneys and distrainors law to parliament on Thursday, the ministry has said in a press release. The proposal changes the rules on the appointment and dismissal of the senior officials, setting down the length of their office term at seven years. The opposition lawmakers for the Pirates, the Civic Democratic Party (ODS) and the Christian Democrats (KDU-CSL) have drafted their own version of the legislation. They propose a ten-year term of office for the supreme state attorneys and a seven-year term for other senior state attorneys.
