Zbigniew Ziobro, Poland's justice minister, has said that Poland had to veto the EU's budget because the budget was really about the "transfer of huge and true power to Brussels." During Monday's meeting of EU ambassadors, Poland's Ambassador to the EU Andrzej Sados vetoed the 2021-2027 budget owing to a mechanism within it linking funding to upholding standards of the rule of law. Speaking to the Catholic Trwam television station on Monday, Ziobro said that linking access to EU funds with the rule of law "is not about any rule of law."
