Hundreds of Slovak journalists, as well as the Slovak Syndicate of Journalists (SSN) and the International Press Institute (IPI) call on MPs to reject the amendment of the law on the press that re-introduces the right to react for public officials. The appeal has been signed by more than 290 journalists including editors-in-chief. They point out that politicians shouldn't decide about content in the media. The signatories argue that politicians have enough means to react on topics that concern them. "Now there's a risk that politicians will want to additionally react to any article we'll write about them even if it's truthful," state the journalists.
