Jailed Czech MPs not to receive pay any more, lower house decides

May 17th, 2013

Czech lawmakers staying in prison would probably no longer receive their salaries and bonuses, nor would they be entitled to other perks such as keeping offices in their home constituencies, under a bill on constitutional officials wages that the Chamber of Deputies passed on Friday. The bill will be discussed by the Senate, the upper house of parliament, now. If it takes effect, the law may directly concern deputy Roman Pekarek (formerly Civic Democrats, ODS) who was sentenced to five years in prison for corruption a few months ago.
