The European Commission's fresh economic forecast of Hungary's budget deficits provides a good reason to lift the suspension of EU catch-up funding, Gyorgy Matolcsy, the economy minister, said in a letter to EU finance ministers. The statement on the government's website on Tuesday said the forecast of deficits of below 3 percent of gross domestic product this year and in 2013 was "an important step" towards ending the suspension of cohesion funds.
