Gyula Bandi, Hungary's deputy ombudsman for the protection of future generations, has said that policymakers should take legislative and budgetary steps to try to manage environmental risks and damage. Speaking at a conference on Wednesday, Bandi said policymakers should introduce a system of environmental responsibility for all activities that concern the environment. This must involve working out legal requirements and guarantees, he said. Bandi said immediate intervention was needed when it comes to environmentally harmful activities, which he said required public funding.
