Gajdos: Talks underway with several jet fighter aircraft producers

Slovakia should buy 14 multi-purpose tactical aircraft for over EUR 1.1 billion by 2030, Defence Minister Peter Gajdos (a Slovak National Party/SNS nominee) told a news conference on Thursday. The ministry is currently in talks with several producers, stated Gajdos; however, he ruled out the acquisition of jet fighters from Russia. Swedish Gripen jet fighters and American F-16 aircraft are being most frequently mentioned in connection with the purchase of new jet fighters for the Slovak Army.
