More than 60 delegates from 30 European countries and several observer organisations of the Forest Europe inter-governmental political process met in Bratislava recently to discuss the preparation of the eighth Ministerial Conference on Forest Protection in Europe, the Zvolen-based National Forestry Centre said in a press release. The issue of forest protection in the changing environment, including adaptation to climate change, will be high on the agenda of the ministerial conference. Scientists, politicians and forestry representatives agree that climate change is the main trigger of the decay in forest ecosystems across Europe, and the Slovak public clearly sees this as well, reads the press release.
