FM: EP vote no trial on Hungary

September 14th, 2018

Wednesday's vote at the European Parliament, where it accepted a report on the state of democracy in Hungary, was no trial on that country, nor had it anything to do with the country's migration policy, as Prime Minister Viktor Orban had said, Czech acting foreign minister Jan Hamacek told the press on Friday. MEPs of his Social Democratic Party have expressed their political views with their votes, which is their prerogative, he said. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Andrej Babis has vowed to take his ANO party's MEPs to task on backing the report, the PM told the press.
