Marek Chrzanowski, to-date head of Poland's Financial Supervision Authority (KNF) financial watchdog, announced his resignation from his post on Tuesday over corruption charges. Chrzanowski is accused of the attempted bribery of a bank shareholder. Commenting on his move, Chrzanowski told PAP that his resignation was motivated by "a sense of responsibility for the efficient supervision of the financial market and the need to clear the matter in detail for the good of the state." The prime minister's office head, Michał Dworczyk, said on Tuesday that Chrzanowski's resignation was "a good move."
