The European parliamentary group of Hungary's ruling Fidesz welcomed the European Parliament's plenary rejection of a draft resolution on stepping up search and rescue operations in the Mediterranean. The draft resolution, accepted on Monday by the EP's civil liberties, justice and home affairs (LIBE) committee, had called for a permanent and sustainable solution and for setting up a distribution mechanism for migrants rescued on sea. In the statement, Balazs Hidveghi of Fidesz said "pro-migration Socialists and Liberals want to push through another wildly pro-migration proposition in the EP".
